Clinical Cardiology
Consultations, electrocardiography and echocardiography at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
01
Consultations
Our consultation process is thorough and patient-centered. During the initial consultation, we take time to understand each patient's medical history, symptoms, and concerns, including lifestyle, family history, and previous treatments. This helps guide our diagnosis and treatment approach.
Dr. Peter Hadjipetrou, with his extensive experience, leads these consultations. He provides clear discussions on diagnoses, treatment options, and next steps. Patients are encouraged to ask questions and express concerns, ensuring they feel informed and comfortable with their care plan. Our goal is to empower patients to make informed decisions about their health.
02
Electrocardiography (ECG)
Electrocardiography (ECG) is a vital diagnostic tool used to assess the electrical activity of the heart. This non-invasive test involves placing electrodes on the patient's chest, arms, and legs to record the heart's electrical signals. An ECG can detect a range of cardiac conditions, including arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other abnormalities. It provides real-time information about the heart's rhythm and function, helping physicians diagnose issues promptly and accurately. At our clinic, we utilize state-of-the-art ECG technology to ensure precise and comprehensive cardiac evaluations, allowing for timely and effective treatment of heart conditions.
03
Echocardiography
Echocardiography helps diagnose a range of conditions like valve disorders, congenital defects, and heart failure, ensuring precise diagnosis and treatment planning.
Our advanced echocardiography technology allows real-time visualisation of heart movement and blood flow, making it invaluable for identifying abnormalities and monitoring treatments.
We offer various echocardiography tests, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), to meet different diagnostic needs. All tests are conducted by skilled technicians and interpreted by Dr. Hadjipetrou for optimal accuracy and care.
04
Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE)
TTE (Transthoracic Echocardiogram) is the most common echocardiogram, where a transducer placed on the chest sends ultrasound waves to the heart. The returning echoes create detailed images of the heart’s chambers, valves, and blood vessels. This painless, non-invasive procedure typically takes 30 to 60 minutes and helps diagnose conditions like cardiomyopathy, valve disease, and pericardial disease.
Our advanced echocardiography services provide essential insights into heart health, enabling early detection, monitoring, and tailored treatments for optimal outcomes. Leveraging cutting-edge technology reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional cardiac care.
05
Our Commitment
At our clinic, we are committed to excellence in both consultations and echocardiography services. Our team, led by Dr. Hadjipetrou, ensures that every patient receives personalised, precise, and compassionate care. By combining comprehensive consultations with advanced echocardiography technology, we provide our patients with the best possible insights into their heart health, paving the way for effective and tailored treatment plans.
FAQ
Common questions about testing
No. A transthoracic echocardiogram is painless and non-invasive: a small transducer is moved across the chest and the returning echoes build the image. It usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.
A resting ECG takes only a few minutes. Electrodes are placed on the chest, arms and legs to record the heart's electrical activity, and the result is available immediately.
Bring your referral, Medicare card, private health details, and a list of the medications you take. If you have had previous cardiac tests elsewhere, bringing the reports helps.
Tests are performed by our technicians and interpreted by Dr Hadjipetrou, who discusses the findings and what they mean for you.
